Ajeenkya DY Patil University celebrated its seventh convocation ceremony on January 20, 2023, with Dr. Ajeenkya DY Patil, the University’s President, and Prof. Hrridaysh Deshpande, the Vice Chancellor, among other distinguished guests in attendance. This grand event gathered over 2,000 attendees, including graduate students, current students, parents, staff, faculty, and well-wishers. The ceremony was a visual spectacle adorned with vibrant colors, elegant tassels, traditional caps, and academic gowns, all rich in historical and traditional significance. These symbols reflected and honored the academic accomplishments of the graduating students, making the event truly memorable.

Around 879 students across 14 Masters programs and 38 Bachelors programs, including Management, Design, Engineering, Law, Hotel Management, Film, and Media, were conferred degrees. At the graduation ceremony, 151 program students were honored with Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals.

The Convocation featured six distinguished individuals awarded Doctor of Letters – Honoris Causa (D.Litt.) for their substantial contributions to entrepreneurship, technology, healthcare, education, and society. These honorees include Tushar Mehendale, Managing Director of ElectroMech Group, Pandurang Abaji Raut, Founder of Shrinath Mhaskoba Sugar Factory, Nitin R. Desai, Chairman of Desai Brothers Ltd., Sudhir Mehta, Chairman of Pinnacle Industries, and Suresh Katta, Founder, and CEO of Saama Technologies.

The President, Dr. Ajeenkya DY Patil, emphasized the importance of talented young graduates in addressing global challenges. He is an avid promoter of incorporating Indian Knowledge Systems into education as a crucial step towards thriving in the modern era.

Prof. Hrridaysh Deshpande, the Vice Chancellor, introduced the University’s innovative multidisciplinary teaching approach, highlighting the unique Hyflex Learning Model. This model combines face-to-face, online, and on-site learning to promote curiosity and creativity. It strategically selects experiences that enhance skill development, expose students to new, unpredictable situations, and encourage learning from mistakes and successes.
