The fourth convocation ceremony of Ajeenkya DY Patil University was held on 23rd January 2020, at its sprawling campus in Charholi Budruk, Pune.

The convocation was organized in the gracious presence of the Guest of Honour, Dr. D.Y. Patil, Former Governor of Bihar, Tripura, and West Bengal, Shekhar Suman, a well-known television and film personality and Dr. Ajeenkya DY Patil, President, Ajeenkya DY Patil University.

The grand convocation also witnessed the presence of five eminent leaders from the corporate world who were conferred the Doctor of Letters –Honoris Causa (D.Litt.) for their valuable contribution to the world of humanity, education, design, management, society, and business.

The recipients included Satish Pai, Managing Director, Hindalco Industries, RajshreePathy, Founder, India Design Forum, JehangirWadia, MD & CEO, Go Air, MD Bombay Dyeing, Zvi Yemini, Chairman, TechCare Ltd and Dr. Anil Baburao Bansode–Consultant Physician (Ayurveda).

Addressing the students, Dr. Ajeenkya DY Patil, President & Chairman, ADYPU, said, “We are at an exciting juncture of our times. We are at the innovation age. No generation has faced the sheer magnitude of technology at our disposal. You can leverage technology for self-sustenance. You must constantly evolve and retool yourself to fit into the future generation. Your aspirations must always remain attuned to the direction the world is moving in.”

He added, “At ADYPU, we have always endeavored to stimulate and develop our student’s intellectual curiosity, creativity, and professional skills. We have wished our students to develop a commitment to an interdisciplinary approach to enable them to cope with innovation and contribute to societal problem-solving. We want to provide students with a solid base for a successful and fulfilled work-life. We want our students to become good citizens in today’s globalized world.”

Prof. Hrridaysh Deshpande, Vice Chancellor, ADYPU, said that today, we have more than 3000 students enrolled at the University. The University has eight schools, with the recent addition of the ninth School of Architecture. We have introduced a Bachelor of Fashion Design to widen the design horizon. The University is becoming an enduring global center of excellence in higher education, anchored in research & innovation, driven by an outstanding faculty, supported by national & international academic partnerships.

The convocation witnessed a large number of students graduating from various undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the fields of management, law, design, engineering, media & communication. Medals of Merit were awarded to 23 students for their academic excellence.
