Celebrating ADYPU Leaders of Tomorrow

21st April 2021

Ajeenkya DY Patil University conducted its fifth graduation ceremony virtually on 21st April 2021. The ceremony was held under the esteemed presence of Dr. D.Y. Patil, Former Governor of Bihar, Tripura, and West Bengal, Dr. Ajeenkya DY Patil, the University’s President, Dr. Vijay DY Patil, Chancellor, DY Patil University, Navi Mumbai.

The convocation saw students graduating from diverse undergraduate and postgraduate programs in management, law, liberal arts, hotel management, and more. Medals of Merit for Academic Excellence were awarded to 42 students in their respective programs.

Dr. Ajeenkya DY Patil, President and Chairman of Ajeenkya DY Patil University, said, “Every year, we would have a glittering convocation ceremony, and we looked forward to celebrating the achievements of our students. This year, we could not do so, but the opportunity to innovate and grow exists, no matter how dark the times are. It is in the time of dislocation that opportunities open up.

In such times, we are figuring out how to deploy technology more effectively to make learning accessible for students with different needs. We are evaluating how students themselves can drive learning and transforming the present system of credentialing to change to a system which is based on a holistic learner record and is not just about the grades. We are also trying to revisit our institution to be a great contributor to the emerging world and contribute to making constructive students who shape the 21st century. The Ajeenkya DY Patil University remains ever-committed to be a center of creativity, learning, and intellectual energy.”

Prof. Hrridaysh Deshpande, Vice-Chancellor Ajeenkya DY Patil University, in his welcome address, presented the Annual University Report, highlighting the university’s achievements, plans, and programs. He also shed light on the various initiatives of the university, including their international collaborations where international students visited the campus and explored Indian culture. These collaborations were carried out virtually during the pandemic.

Speaking about the pandemic, he said, “The world was hit by a tremendous challenge which upended many things. We were all affected by it and were forced to find solutions for a problem that we were ill-prepared for. Under the guidance of our President, Dr. Ajeenkya DY Patil, we formed a multidisciplinary team comprising biomedical engineers, computer engineers, doctors, and practitioners to find solutions. This team eventually succeeded in four projects that included developing a high flow nasal cannula machine, a multichannel ventilator splitter, and a mobile van for Covid testing.”
