Ajeenkya DY Patil University (ADYPU) successfully conducted a One-Day Workshop on the Process of Innovation Development & Technology Readiness Level (TRL) and the Commercialization of Lab Technologies & Tech Transfer. The workshop, organized by the Innovation and Ranking Cell in collaboration with the School of Hospitality & Hotel Management. Adv. Vedant Pujari, a renowned IP Strategist and Founder of Accures Legal was the expert speaker.
The session was graced by Dr. Rakesh Kumar Jain, Vice Chancellor of ADYPU, along with the Deans of all Schools, faculty members, and students. Dr. Jain in his opening remarks emphasized the importance of collaboration, innovation, and leveraging opportunities to drive impactful research and development.
Hon’ VC Dr. Rakesh Kumar Jain facilitated the Adv. Vedant Pujari, who has over 20 years of experience in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and technology commercialization, shared valuable insights on patents, trademarks, industrial designs, and strategies to transform lab research into tangible assets. Adv. Vedant highlighted the key traits of an innovator’s mindset—creativity, curiosity, persistence, collaboration, and risk-taking—while elaborating on the differences between inventions and discoveries, patentable subject matters, and the importance of IP protection.
The workshop was successfully coordinated by Dr. Rajlakshmi P Wagh (Associate Professor – SOL and Coordinator of Innovation & Ranking Cell) and Prof. Deepak Kumar Pandey (Deputy Dean, SOHM and Coordinator of Innovation & Ranking Cell).
The event was highly interactive, engaging students and faculty in discussions on TRL frameworks, IP strategies, and the commercialization of academic research. The Innovation & Ranking Cell members, including Dr. Lalit Wadhwa, Dr. Vinayak Inamdar, Prof. Bindiya Naik, Dr. Vijay Dhamore, Prof. Subhasis Mandal, Prof. Kedar Kulkarni, and Ms. Madhuram Mishra, played a key role in the seamless planning and execution of the workshop.
This initiative reflects ADYPU’s commitment to fostering a culture of innovation, research, and entrepreneurship, equipping students with the knowledge to navigate the evolving landscape of technology and intellectual property.
All speakers emphasized the significance of the seminar topic from an academic perspective, underscoring its relevance in research and innovation. In the second session, eight students had the opportunity to present their ideas and actively engage with the speakers, fostering insightful discussions and a deeper understanding of the subject.
