Ajeenkya D Y Patil University (ADYPU) proudly hosted the Deeksharambh 2025 Induction Ceremony for the School of Law, marking a significant milestone in the academic journey of its newest cohort of law students. The event, held on campus, was a rich confluence of tradition, wisdom, and inspiration — laying a strong foundation for the leaders of tomorrow’s legal world.
The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing enlightenment and the eternal flame of knowledge. The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries from academia, the judiciary, and the corporate legal world, whose presence added great value and significance to the occasion.
Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr. Rakesh Kumar Jain extended a warm welcome to the attendees and felicitated the Guest of Honour, Retd. Hon’ble Judge Shridhar M. Bhosale, whose distinguished career and presence served as an inspiration to the budding legal minds. Also in attendance were Executive Vice President Dr. Kamaljeet Kaur Siddhu (ADYPG), Registrar Dr. Sudhakar Shinde, and notable guests Adv. Suchitra Ghodke (Advocate, Sessions Court) and Dr. K. P. Pradeep Menon (Legal Director, Johnson & Johnson).
In his keynote address, Dr. Jain encouraged students to nurture self-belief, embrace learning with purpose, and uphold the highest standards of integrity. His speech culminated with an empowering quote by Swami Vivekananda: “Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached.”
Dr. Sunny Thomas, Dean of the School of Law, delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the importance of discipline, critical thinking, and the student-parent-faculty partnership in shaping meaningful academic journeys. He urged students to embrace challenges with confidence and stay rooted in values.
Dr. Kamaljeet Kaur Siddhu, in her impactful address, spoke candidly about the importance of staying focused in the legal discipline. She warned against common distractions such as substance abuse, misuse of social media, and emotional disturbances, urging students to remain steadfast in their pursuit of excellence and character-building.
Delivering the guest address, Hon’ble Judge Shridhar Bhosale shared valuable insights into the evolving role of the legal profession in a global context. He highlighted emerging opportunities in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), corporate law, and public service, while emphasizing the need for lifelong learning, legal research, and staying updated with judicial developments.
Adv. Suchitra Ghodke reflected on the ethical responsibilities of legal professionals, encouraging students to view the law as a tool for justice and equity. Dr. K. P. Pradeep Menon brought in a corporate lens to the discourse, speaking on the intersections between law, compliance, and business ethics. He urged students to be independent thinkers with a sound understanding of the Indian Constitution and global legal frameworks.
The event concluded with a gracious vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Ramratan Dhumal, Assistant Professor at the School of Law. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to all dignitaries, parents, faculty members, and the organizing team, while warmly welcoming the new batch into the ADYPU legal fraternity.
The ceremony was eloquently and efficiently anchored by Prof. Sangita Verma, whose poised hosting added finesse to the day’s proceedings.
