ADYPU Welcomes the “Helmet Man of India” – Mr. Raghvendra Kumar

13th Oct 2025

Ajeenkya DY Patil University (ADYPU) proudly hosted Mr. Raghvendra Kumar, popularly known as the Helmet Man of India, for an engaging and inspiring session on road safety awareness and public responsibility. Turning a moment of personal loss into a lifelong mission, Mr. Raghvendra has become a national icon promoting helmet discipline and road safety compliance across India.

His journey began in 2014 after losing a close friend in a road accident. Since then, he has led a transformative campaign, distributing over 75,000 helmets free of cost across 22 states, directly saving 48 lives and inspiring a culture of safety and responsibility. His pioneering “Book-for-Helmet” campaign has established 1,400+ libraries, merging literacy with life-saving awareness—an effort that beautifully aligns with the UN’s vision of sustainable, safe, and educated communities.

Recognized with prestigious honors such as the Asian Excellence Award (2022) and Missile Man Award (2023), Mr. Raghvendra Kumar has collaborated extensively with the Indian Army, Navy, and Central Military Police to strengthen national road safety initiatives.

At the event, Mr. Raghvendra Kumar was felicitated by Dr. Kamaljeet Kaur Siddhu (Executive Vice President Ajeenkya DY Patil Group), Lt. Col Mohit Gaur, and Lt. Col Vivek Tiwari. At the same time, Dr. Sunil Ingole (Dean Academics) and Dr. Vijay Kulkarni (Dean Students Service Division) honoured the distinguished guests.

The session reinforced ADYPU’s commitment to advancing UN SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by nurturing a safety-first campus culture. The university announced plans to introduce an on-campus Helmet Bank, promoting responsible mobility and lifelong awareness among students and staff.
