The School of Law at Ajeenkya DY Patil University (ADYPU), Pune, successfully hosted the 5th Dr. K.D. Gaur National Moot Court Competition 2025, marking another milestone in its journey of legal education excellence. Held on March 27–28, the two-day national event brought together 22 top law schools from across India, all competing with vigor, intellect, and a shared commitment to justice.
The inaugural ceremony began with the traditional lighting of the lamp by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr. Rakesh Kumar Jain, joined by Mr. Anshoo Gaur, Mrs. Madhu Gaur, Dr. Sudhakar Shinde (Registrar), Dr. Sunny Thomas (Dean – School of Law), and Adv. Abhilasha Mane (Faculty Convenor). The event was further dignified by the presence and motivating speeches of Adv. Sahil Salvi and Adv. Aman Dutta, who encouraged participants to uphold the values of the Constitution and the rule of law.
The competition was held in memory of the late Dr. K.D. Gaur, a revered jurist and academician, whose legacy was honored through the continued support of the Gaur Family, represented by Mr. Anshoo Gaur, Mrs. Madhu Gaur, and Mrs. Monica Gaur.
Over the course of the event, participants passionately argued on pressing legal and social issues, including human rights, transgender rights, and sexual rights. The grand finale showcased an intense courtroom battle between the top two teams, debating a case on transgender rights. The participants exhibited razor-sharp arguments, deep legal insight, and a firm commitment to advocacy.

The final round was judged by a distinguished panel of legal experts including Adv. Bhushan Kakade, Adv. Pranjal Doshi, and Dr. Swapnil Bengali, who lauded the participants for their professionalism, courtroom etiquette, and legal prowess.
The event’s success was steered by the leadership of Dr. Sunny Thomas, Dean, School of Law, and skillfully executed under the guidance of Faculty Convenor Adv. Abhilasha Mane, with immense contributions from student convenors Krishnanshu Sharma, Prachi Agarwal, Satyamraj Chaubey, Co-convenor Rohit Kumar, and a dedicated team of volunteers.
Looking Ahead
The competition received heartfelt praise from judges, guests, and participating institutions for its academic rigor, hospitality, and professional conduct. With its resounding success, ADYPU now looks forward to scaling the event to an international level under the visionary leadership of Dr. Ajeenkya D Y Patil, President of the University. Plans are underway to invite global participation in the next edition, fostering international legal exchange and collaboration.
This year’s competition has not only reaffirmed ADYPU’s commitment to legal excellence but also set a new benchmark in the realm of moot court advocacy and legal education.
