On the occasion of World Sustainability Day, Ajeenkya D Y Patil University (ADYPU) proudly celebrates a significant milestone in its sustainability journey.
ADYPU has been recognized by the Global Network for Zero (GNFZ) for its exemplary efforts toward achieving Net Zero Operations – Energy. This prestigious recognition has been conferred upon the university as a whole, reaffirming its steadfast commitment to sustainability, innovation, and climate action.
The initiative was conceptualized and executed under the leadership of the School of Design (SoD), led by Dean Ar Aparna Rahul Mhetras, whose team played a key role in advancing ADYPU’s sustainability framework. The School of Design has been instrumental in integrating environmental responsibility into design education and research—empowering students to create with purpose, awareness, and real-world impact.
This achievement stands as a testament to the visionary leadership of Dr. Rakesh Kumar Jain, Vice Chancellor ADYPU, the strategic guidance of Dr. Kamaljeet Kaur Siddhu, Executive Vice President ADYPG, and the support of Dr. Sudhakar Shinde, Registrar, who have collectively championed ADYPU’s commitment to building a greener, more sustainable campus ecosystem.
Speaking on the occasion, Ar. Aparna Rahul Mhetras, Dean, School of Design, said,
“Sustainability is not just a goal—it’s a design philosophy we live by. This recognition reinforces our belief that every creative decision can drive positive environmental change.”
ADYPU’s inclusion among recognized organizations such as Ajmera Realty & Infra India Ltd., Pravin Masalewale, and Design2Occupancy underscores its growing reputation as a thought leader in sustainability-driven higher education.
As India advances toward its Net Zero 2070 vision, ADYPU continues to lead by example—turning climate intent into measurable action, one design and one innovation at a time.
