ADYPU Hosts Inspiring Session on “Climate of Tomorrow” with Dr. Chetan Singh Solanki — The Solar Man of India

06th Nov 2025

Pune, November 6, 2025: Ajeenkya DY Patil University (ADYPU) hosted an insightful and inspiring session on “Climate of Tomorrow” by Dr. Chetan Singh Solanki — globally acclaimed as The Solar Man of India, author of “Climate Change 2100: Survive or Thrive? Global Warming, Sustainability & the Future of Humanity”, and Founder of the Energy Swaraj Foundation. The session served as a powerful platform to ignite awareness, action, and innovation toward a sustainable, self-reliant future.

The event began with a ceremonial lamp lighting by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. Rakesh Kumar Jain, Executive Vice President ADYPG Dr. Kamaljeet Kaur Siddhu, Dr. Chetan Singh Solanki, Registrar Dr. Sudhakar Shinde, and Dr. Ninad Gawande, Event Coordinator and Associate Professor at the School of Management — symbolizing enlightenment, knowledge, and the spirit of sustainability.

In his welcome address, Dr. Ninad Gawande highlighted ADYPU’s collective commitment to building a resilient and greener tomorrow. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Jain, in his keynote, emphasized the importance of discipline, innovation, and sustainability, urging students to act responsibly toward nature. Quoting Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, he reiterated ADYPU’s mission of nurturing innovation that serves both humanity and the planet.

Dr. Kamaljeet Kaur, in her address, showcased the university’s sustainability initiatives — from the Climate Action Hub to its contribution to Viksit Bharat — encouraging everyone to take small, meaningful steps toward collective climate action. She has also announce that energy Swaraj Foundation has declared Ajeenkya DY Patil Educational Campus at charoli as Climate Action Hub under their Finite Earth Movement.

Dr. Solanki’s keynote was the highlight of the day — a profound and stirring exploration of the global climate crisis. Sharing his journey from receiving the Prime Minister’s Innovation Award to leading the Energy Swaraj Yatra (2020–2030), which has covered over 6,50,000 km in a solar-powered van, he inspired all to reflect deeply with his mantra: “I caused climate change.” Through scientific insights and personal conviction, he called for a paradigm shift from consumerism to conscious living — reminding all that “I can afford, but nature cannot.”

The session concluded with a vote of thanks and a reaffirmation of ADYPU’s pledge to drive climate-conscious innovation and education.

Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 3, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, and 17), Ajeenkya DY Patil University continues to champion initiatives that promote good health and well-being, clean energy, responsible consumption, sustainable communities, and climate action. Guided by its vision to create a better future through design thinking and human-centered innovation, ADYPU remains steadfast in its mission to nurture creative and responsible leaders who will shape a sustainable world for generations to come.
