VU2ETD Repeater Set for Wire-X Integration — Connecting India, One Repeater at a Time

The ADYPU Ham Radio Club brings exciting news for the VHF community: the VU2ETD repeater is set to be linked to the Wire-X network very shortly, marking a significant step forward in connected amateur radio operations.

Wire-X is a digital voice networking protocol developed by Yaesu, designed to link repeaters and nodes across cities and countries over the internet, enabling real-time DX (long-distance) QSOs without the limitations of RF propagation. Once a repeater is connected to the Wire-X network, operators within its range can communicate seamlessly with stations on linked repeaters anywhere in the world.

The VU2ETD integration is part of a larger initiative — connecting repeaters across India into a unified Wire-X network. Experimental linking with Ahmedabad is already underway, with early tests showing promising results. As more repeaters come on board, the network will open up rich opportunities for inter-city and interstate contacts, bringing the Indian Ham Radio community closer together on a common digital backbone.

For operators in the Pune region, this means access to a growing national network of voices and stations — all through the familiar VHF setup they already use.

Keep your Yaesu rigs ready. The rollout is imminent, and DX QSOs across India are just around the corner. Watch this space for updates from the ADYPU Ham Radio Club.
