Ajeenkya DY Patil University (ADYPU), Pune, in collaboration with Bhartiya Shikshan Mandal and the Central University of Kashmir, J&K, hosted a Three-Day International Conference on “NEP-2020 Analytics and Bhartiya Gyan Sampada (IKS) – A Pragmatic Perspective.”
The event brought together eminent educationists, policymakers, and scholars to align India’s ancient knowledge systems with the transformative vision of NEP 2020. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Shri B. R. Shankaranand Ji, Akhil Bhartiya Sangathan Mantri, Bhartiya Shikshan Mandal, Nagpur, Dr. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, National Educational Technology Forum (NETF), Dr. Shailendra K. Deolankar, Director, Higher & Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra, Prof. A. Ravinder Nath, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Kashmir, and Dr. Rakesh Kumar Jain, Vice Chancellor, ADYPU, among other dignitaries.
In his keynote, Shri B. R. Shankaranand Ji invoked a profound reflection—“If Ceylon can become Sri Lanka and Burma can become Myanmar, why can’t India be Bharat?” His call symbolized a civilizational reawakening that education must reconnect learners with their roots. He emphasized that true education flows through Alay, Vidyalay, and Devalay—enriching intellect and spirit alike.
Dr. Anil Sahasrabudhe highlighted the need to remove the colonial “1835 mindset” and championed innovations like Anuvadini (AI-enabled translation), the Academic Bank of Credits, and the upcoming APAR ID initiative. He underscored the importance of reviving indigenous scripts like Sharada—the ancient writing system of Kashmir—and platforms like Gyan Sampada, envisioned as India’s knowledge repository.
Dr. Shailendra K. Deolankar emphasized NEP 2020 as the foundation for a Viksit Bharat, urging academic institutions to build synergy between infrastructure, education, and human capital. Prof. Ravinder Nath lauded the collaboration between ADYPU and partner institutions as a model for integrating Indian Knowledge Systems with modern education.
In his address, Vice Chancellor Dr. Rakesh Kumar Jain reaffirmed ADYPU’s mission to nurture innovative, ethical, and culturally rooted learners. He noted that under the guidance of Dr Ajeenkya DY Patil, the university is translating NEP 2020 into practice through multidisciplinary, skill-driven, and value-based education.
Messages from Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Hon. Chief Minister of Maharashtra, and Shri Chandrakant Patil, Hon. Higher and technical education minister of Maharashtra state, lauded the university’s efforts and congratulated the organizers for receiving over 120 research papers focused on Indian Knowledge Systems.
The conference concluded with the release of the book “Transforming Higher Education in India through Integration of NEP 2020, NCrF, NSQF and Curriculum Reforms”, authored by Dr. Shehzadhussein Ansari and Dr. Vijay Kulkarni.At its core, the conference symbolized a shift from India to Bharat—from colonial curriculum to civilizational consciousness. By integrating NEP 2020 and IKS, ADYPU stands at the forefront of an educational renaissance—where tradition meets innovation, and Bharat reclaims its ancient role as the Vishwaguru, the beacon of knowledge for the world.
