Ajeenkya DY Patil University (ADYPU) hosted the Zonal Level (West Zone) –‘Anveshan 2023’-a student research convention held recently in the sprawling University Campus. The event was organized under the aegis of Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
The two-day convention witnessed an overwhelming participation of more than 100 students and their mentors spread across Maharashtra, Gujarat & Rajasthan. Sixty-five innovative research ideas were shortlisted through a rigorous selection process laid by AIU. as per the AIU guidelines.
Prof Hrridaysh Deshpande-Hon Vice Chancellor, ADYPU welcomed the gathering and shared his thought-provoking ideas to students to pursue interdisciplinary research to tackle societal problems with innovative solutions.
The inaugural session was graced by Air Vice Marshal Dr. Rajesh Vaidya, VSM, Dean & DY Commandant, Armed Forces Medical College (Pune). During his inspiring talk, he said that in today’s times, medical research is the preferred choice among the new breed of aspiring doctors. He highlighted to the aspiring scientists to pursue pioneering research projects in the domain of tropical diseases in the Indian context, which is popularly being carried out in United States of America and Europe. During his speech, he urged the researchers to develop the art of empathy as well as contribute to nation building during their pursuit of research journey.
Dr Usha Rai Negi, Assistant Director-AIU said that Anveshan is a national annual flagship student research convention to include the spirit of research culture in higher education institutions (HEIS) to promote out of the box ideas in diverse fields ranging from Agriculture, Engineering, Health & Social Sciences.
Speaking about the concept of Anveshan-2023 is Dr Biswajeet Champatty-Convenor for West Zone of Anveshan, “We are indeed thrilled to be selected by AIU to host this prestigious student research driven event dedicated to promotion of innovation through the power of interdisciplinary research. Keeping in sync with our University vision, we strive to create innovative research driven opportunities for aspiring researchers in India and aboard.”
During the two-day event, the participants displayed their novel research proposals by way of posters, demonstrations and oral presentations before the eminent jury members from the scientific community. The participants were evaluated based on scientific thoughts & principles, creativity, thoroughness, skill, relevance and teamwork. A total of 15 winning proposals were shortlisted from the West Zonal Region were selected for the National Level Competition. The winners were celebrated with a Special Certificate of Merit and mementoes. The winning proposals from each zonal region shall compete for the national level competition which shall be held tentatively during mid of March this year.
