ADYPU Organizes First International Faculty Development Programon Healthcare & Well-Being

Ajeenkya DY Patil University (ADYPU) had organized a three-day Multidisciplinary International Faculty Development Programme-2018 (IFDP-2018)—on the theme ‘Healthcare & Well-Being’. The three day programme witnessed a series of expert talks, brainstorming sessions pertaining to the growing healthcare and wellbeing industries.

The Key-Note address was delivered by Dr R Venkat Rao-Vice Chancellor, National Law School of India University, Bengaluru. He said that medical diseases and poverty are two sides of the same coin. Hence, to break the vicious cycle of poverty, healthcare reforms plays a crucial role towards good healthy living and peace of mind.

Soraya Homchuen—Director—Tourism Authority of Thailand, Mumbai shed light on the growing opportunities in medical tourism in India and Thailand. She enlightened on the emerging business opportunity ‘Wellness Tourism’ which is gaining popularity around the globe.

An active octogenarian Madhukar Talwalkar—MD & CEO—India’s largest chain of health centres—Talwalkars enlightened on the growing business opportunities in the fitness industry. He said that fitness and wellness has become a way of life. He narrated his journey from a humble textile engineer in defunct textile mill to a multi-millionaire leading gym-business tycoon in India.

Dr Santosh Kakde–Non-judicial Member of Maharashtra State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission discussed the importance of Consumer Protection Act in context with the medical profession. He explained the different rights of patients as consumers and explained the legal provisions in terms of negligence from the perspective of a medical professional.

For which, Healthcare and Well-being is one of our core research themes.” Over 80 academicians and industry experts attended as well as presented their novel research papers on diverse research themes.
