ADYPU Research Strategy

ADYPU Doctoral Research Strategy strives to achieve the following:

  • To encourage individual and multi-disciplinary research excellence.
  • To collectively focus on problems of global significance and provide innovative and sustainable solutions.

At ADYPU, our endeavour towards our doctoral programs is to recognise that academic disciplines and interdisciplinary studies provide the richest and most compelling environment to support and develop individual experience.

In this exciting era of Industry 4.0—business corporations, government and non-profit entities are deeply engaged in discovering new business models and digital technologies to boost productivity as well as to build a more sustainable and equitable society.

These challenges demand inputs from diverse disciplines, expertise and inter-disciplinary collaborations to provide path-breaking solutions to ever increasing challenges. It is multi-disciplinary nature of these challenges that motivate the need to identify ADYPU Core Research Themes.

ADYPU Focus on Research Themes

ADYPU Research Themes aims to focus on the following three are founded on motivated and talented individuals and discipline excellence.

Theme: Our thematic focus should be able to respond to the challenges of problems which are of local, national and global significance.

Discipline: Disciplinary excellence provides the best environment to contribute to hone multi-disciplinary skills.

Individual: Individual research excellence and academic freedom is what creates the uniqueness of ADYPU.

ADYPU’s Five Core Research Themes

ADYPU has identified five thematic areas which aim to support responsive and problem-solving interdisciplinary research. Our research themes focuses on being the forerunner in combating the Grand Challenge of creating prosperous communities in an emergent creative and data-driven digital economies.

Through our inter-disciplinary focus, we endeavour to collaborate together industry-academia stakeholders to generate new ideas, good jobs, better earning capacities as well as lay the foundation for successful entrepreneurship.

Each of these themes strives to balance the need to deepen fundamental research as well as to focus on real impact through application to new age societal issues.

Technologies for the Future

How human individuals adopt the use of technology for interaction is an interesting field of research. How mankind is equipped to face the rapid changes in the coming future needs to be explored? New dimensions of knowledge with rapid technological trends have the potential to alter social, cultural and communication and physical landscapes.

For instance, Artificial Intelligence and Big Data is transforming and altering the way we live or work. It is raising important questions for the society, governance and economy. The need for research scholars is to comprehend as to how people rethink and integrate real-time data for a more insightful decision making.

A human interaction with complex technologies is an area of great concern across the globe. Through the power of futuristic technologies, future researchers could also explore the possibilities of how future technologies could create magnanimous impact to mankind and augmenting human capabilities in different ways.

Health and Well-Being

For three decades, ADYPU has been in the forefront of developing health professionals to promote healthy people and communities.

How healthy is our population as a whole? Do all sections of the population have access to affordable health services? Are we addressing the well-being of ageing society in an era of increasing longevity? Are we developing cost-effective medical care for critical illnesses for developing economies?

With a multidisciplinary team from architecture, management, communication, engineering, law and design, the health and well-being cluster examines ways of enhancing life-expectancy and well-being in terms of physical, mental, emotional, social well-being through developing innovative and affordable technologies.

The probable outcomes include measuring health gain for people, family, community and society; assessing well-being and life satisfaction; and harnessing developing innovative new approaches in preventive health care, palliative care and mental health.

Digital Futures

Data driven economy and business innovation are the key-drivers to create digital futures. Big data is the new phenomena in fostering new businesses, products and processes. Through hi-tech mobile applications and smart grid technologies—we attempt to discover a new value chain in terms of optimizing business processes through the power of consumer insights.

ADYPU will strive to spearhead the theme of ‘Digital Futures’ to rapidly realise the transformational impact of digital technologies. Through digital futures, we draw on fusion of engineering, social sciences, design and data sciences domains to design breakthrough innovations for enhanced digital experiences.

The theme on ‘Digital Futures’ will explore possibilities presented by the digital age which are multifaceted, exciting and complex in nature. We envision to create a super-smart society-where we strive to create a digital research hub for the development of digital society.

We want to innovate and discover personalized digital solutions for better quality of life–ranging from connectivity, education, enterprise, expression, security and lifestyle.

Community and Liveable Societies

What makes our society “liveable?” We are aware that liveability improves the community’s quality of life—beyond local, personal, social and physical environment.

We need to explore whether citizens are really empowered to participate in the governance processes? Do they feel comfortable and safe in their own neighbourhoods? Do they feel that the government genuinely protects their needs and interests? Do people feel proud and healthy of the societies they live in?

Our emphasis is to focus our research strategy on ‘Clean Growth’ & ‘Digital Cities’ where we strive to advance futuristic clean & digital technologies towards commercial readiness and a sustainable living.

Researchers in the field of architecture, design, cinema studies and communication could collaborate on projects designed to explore the interactions of politics, art, technology, design and culture in historical and contemporary urban environments.

While scholars in engineering, computer science, information, economics, management and law can discover as to how to build and manage complex technological and operational urban systems that facilitate civic engagement.

Entrepreneurship and Innovation

At ADYPU, research within the Entrepreneurship and Innovation cluster will focus on different aspects of understanding how innovation and entrepreneurship revolves around products, services and processes and the involvement of individuals and groups in the globalized era.

We want to create a unique Digital Entrepreneurship & Innovation ecosystem by way of innovative entrepreneurship models. Entrepreneurship research within the group can cover areas like entrepreneurial finance, digital entrepreneurship, sustainable entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial education.

Innovation studies could address on topics such as the emergence of new ICT-enabled business models as well as areas pertaining to the growth and access to the emergence of digital economy.
