Dean, Research and Development

Location : Ajeenkya DY Patil University, Pune
    Key Responsibilities:
      1. Strategic Research Leadership:
    • Develop and implement a strategic vision for research and development at the university, aligning with the institution’s overall mission and goals.
    • Identify and prioritize key research areas, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation.
    • Lead the formulation of research policies, guidelines, and standards that promote excellence and integrity in research.

    2. Research Management and Administration:
    • Oversee the management of research programs, ensuring effective administration, compliance with regulations, and ethical conduct.
    • Facilitate the establishment of research centers, labs, and infrastructure to support high-quality research.
    • Coordinate the activities of research committees, including ethics review boards and funding allocation panels.

    3. Grant Writing and Funding Acquisition:
    • Support faculty and researchers in identifying funding opportunities, preparing grant proposals, and securing external funding.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with funding agencies, industry partners, and government bodies to enhance research funding.
    • Manage internal research funding programs and initiatives, ensuring equitable distribution of resources.

    4. Promotion of Innovation and Technology Transfer:
    • Promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within the university, encouraging the commercialization of research outputs.
    • Oversee the management of intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, and licensing agreements.
    • Facilitate partnerships with industry to translate research findings into practical applications and technologies.

    5. Research Collaboration and Partnerships:
    • Build and nurture collaborative relationships with national and international research institutions, universities, and industry partners.
    • Lead initiatives to develop joint research programs, exchange programs, and collaborative projects with external partners.
    • Represent the university in research forums, conferences, and networks, enhancing its visibility and reputation.

    6. Quality Assurance and Research Integrity:
    • Ensure the highest standards of research quality, ethics, and integrity are maintained across all research activities.
    • Implement and monitor compliance with research ethics guidelines, data management policies, and other relevant regulations.
    • Conduct regular audits and assessments of research activities to ensure continuous improvement and adherence to best practices.

    7. Faculty and Student Research Development:
    • Support faculty and student research by providing mentorship, training, and resources to enhance research skills and productivity.
    • Encourage and facilitate student involvement in research, including undergraduate and graduate research opportunities.
    • Oversee the development of research-focused academic programs, workshops, and seminars.

    8. Dissemination and Publication of Research:
    • Promote the dissemination of research findings through publications in high-impact journals, conferences, and other academic forums.
    • Support the development of university research publications, including journals, monographs, and online platforms
    • Facilitate open access and public engagement with research, enhancing the societal impact of the university’s research outputs.

    9. Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the university’s research activities, including research output, impact, and funding success.
    • Prepare and present reports on research performance to the university’s leadership and governing bodies.
    • Ensure transparency and accountability in the management of research resources and outcomes.

    10.Resource Management:
    • Manage the budget and resources allocated to research and development, ensuring efficient and effective use.
    • Oversee the recruitment, development, and retention of research staff, fostering a supportive and collaborative research environment.
    • Ensure that research facilities and equipment are maintained and upgraded as needed to support cutting-edge research.


    Qualifications:
    • A Ph.D. in a relevant field with a strong research background.
    • Extensive experience in research leadership, preferably in an academic or research institution.
    • A proven track record of securing research funding and managing large-scale research projects.
    • Strong knowledge of research management, ethics, and compliance regulations.
    • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

    Desirable Attributes:
    • Experience in technology transfer, innovation management, and intellectual property.
    • Strong network of relationships with industry, government, and research organizations.
    • Experience in mentoring and developing researchers and research teams.
