DYPDC’s Bachelor of Design program in Automobile Design is a multidisciplinary course at the confluence of art, market, and science. The program offers a comprehensive, future-oriented curriculum that is aimed at meeting the demand for world-class automobile designers in India.
The earlier part of the program focuses on the fundamentals such as concept sketching, rendering, three-dimensional model making, presentation techniques, computer-aided design tools, emerging technologies and energy sources, and the principles of ergonomics, automobile engineering, and materials technology.
The latter part focusses on the refining of skills and knowledge gained during the fundamental studies.
The program’s curriculum students engage with clay designs, design technologies, hands-on projects, etc., to get an integrated and demonstrated feel of the coursework. The program’s allied modules include a broad study of automobile engineering, materials science, market and trends analysis, marketing, design management, branding, economics, etc.
Students graduating with a Bachelor of Design degree in Automobile Design find a place in R & D departments of large manufacturing companies, or in specialized design consultancies, or could work as freelance designers, and most exciting of all, drive start-ups. With technologies like smart apps, self-driving cars, etc., automobile designers will be in high demand to address the new challenges facing the automobile industry.
